Peugeot 4007

Peugeot entered into the 4x4 SUV market during the second half of 2007. The name - 4007 - has a double zero identity to show that it represents another new concept in Peugeot’s ever developing model range. The ´4´ represents its size within the Peugeot range and the ´7´ is its generation. The vehicle is the result of collaboration between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. With this new offer, Peugeot is following its strategy of extending its commercial range in response to the more diversified requests of its customers. The 4007 brings together strongly all the attributes of the marquee within a growing segment of the market. Stylish yet distinctive, the Peugeot 4007 has been designed at Peugeot’s design centre in Velizy, France. With tapered headlights and open front grille, the recognisable ´feline´ look of the new Peugeot range is still evident here. The chrome structure lends an elegant and authoritative edge. The aerodynamic design of the roof gives an elegant profile which is complimented by a contemporary rear. The 4007’s interior has also benefited from Peugeot’s specialised designers. It is dynamic and functional and offers lots of storage.

Environmentally aware Peugeot has equipped the 4007 with its latest 2.2 litre diesel engine which features its advanced Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS) for the best combination of performance, economy and environmental protection. The 2.2-litre HDi diesel engine features direct common-rail injection and is the result of the partnership with the Ford Motor Group. It develops 156 bhp and is capable of using a 30% mixture of biodiesel without any modifications. Delivering a driving experience that is both dynamic and pleasurable, the engine boasts impressive fuel economy and emissions performance, among the best in the SUV sector. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox to make the best use of the high-torque characteristics of the 2.2-litre HDi diesel engine.

The 4007s on-demand 4WD system enables the driver to select three modes of drive, while on the move. First is Permanent 2WD, intended for normal tarmac use, with all power directed to the front wheels. In Automatic 4WD, engine torque is delivered automatically to wheels that require the most traction at any time. Should you find yourself in a sticky situation however, you might need to select Permanent 4WD. This set-up splits torque 50:50 between front and rear wheels. The idea of all this technology is to give the 4007 what Peugeot call the best of both worlds, enabling it to tackle reasonably rough terrain, yet still provide acceptable on-road dynamic behaviour and competitive fuel economy. The 4007 continues Peugeot's reputation for producing engaging cars with dynamic and safe road characteristics
