Chevrolet Lacetti Station Wagon

The Lacetti was formerly badged as a Daewoo, although the Station Wagon version was never previously available. It actually makes more sense as a family work horse vehicle in estate guise. The Lacetti Station Wagon offers a generous amount of car for your money. The driving experience is reasonable, the interior looks good and it's well specified. There's a good level of adjustment to the driving position with reach and rake adjustment for the steering wheel and a height-adjustable driver's seat. Lumbar adjustment is also fitted. The dash looks modern and is logically laid out whilst the materials are of a good quality, raising the feel good factor up a notch.

Generally there will be little cause for complaint front or rear with rear legroom being a particular strength. The equipment tally covers all the essentials like powered windows, heated mirrors, alloy wheels, steering wheel mounted stereo controls and air-conditioning which also cools the glovebox. In the boot there's a useful luggage net, luggage cover and floor net.

There is only one trim level on the Station Wagon – SX and only one engine, a 1.6 with 109bhp offering a satisfactory level of performance for day-to-day driving. There's a five-speed manual gearbox, or an optional four-speed automatic. The 1.4 and 1.8 available in other bodystyles are not available on the Station Wagon, but buyers are unlikely to miss the lack of choice. With a decent sized estate boot, split folding rear seats and roof bars completing the specification, the Station Wagon qualifies as a practical car. Road handling is safe and predictable with a satisfactory level of ride quality without ever being particularly exciting. With a boot full of whatever, you are hardly likely to want to belt around corners anyway.

The customer care package applies to all models in the Chevrolet range and includes warranty cover and AA roadside recovery for three years. The Lacetti Station Wagon offers wide-ranging comfort and safety features, high levels of specification and exceptional value for money in a compact, elegant and stylish design - there aren't many other cars offering this much practicality for the price.
