The Expert 900 with a 2.0HDi engine delivering 110bhp offers effortless performance and is easy to drive. Despite its spacious interior, it always feels like a compact van and an easy-to-reach gear stick and power steering, which is variable according to the engine speed, ensures driving the Expert never feels part of the job. Engine noise is relatively muted and the Expert always feels responsive, and even when loaded it corners well, with limited body roll. The dashboard and interior fittings are surprisingly car-like. The wide instrument binnacle is easy on the eye, and the gear stick is placed conveniently on the dashboard. The dual passenger seat incorporates a three-point seat belt for both passengers and a fold down writing surface containing cup holders on the centre seat cushion back. To maximise space in the centre of the cabin, the handbrake is situated to the right of the driver. A CD/radio is standard, as is a ladder-style bulkhead behind the driver.
The 2.0HDi will carry up to 900kg. The load floor length is 2050mm and offers a maximum width of 1430mm above the wheel arches and a minimum if 1190mm between them. Load height is 1410 in the centre of the van, while the height for access via the rear doors is 1260mm and 1290mm at the side door. Door widths are 1060mm at the rear and a minimum of 810mm at the side door. The total load volume of the Expert is four cubic metres. All Experts also come with an overhead storage shelf in the front. You can expect close to 40mpg in everyday driving and an 80-litre fuel tank means you won't have to visit the petrol station very often. HDi models can go two years or 20,000 miles without a service. Two of the vans main strengths are it load carrying capacity and ease of driving around town
